Abstract

Gallstone ileus is a rare disease, arising due to intestinal obstruction caused by cholelith. It affects mainly patients between 60–70years old and is a consequence of biliary intestinal fistula. Due to its uncommonness and the patients’ age and comorbidities there is a lack of precise treatment and diagnostic guidelines. The aim of this article is gallstone ileus literature review and case report from Independent Public Clinical Hospital No. 1 of Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin, Department of General, Minimally Invasive and Gastroenterological Surgery Department.
