Peer Review Process

Manuscripts submitted for publication in the Pomeranian Journal of Life Sciences are peer-reviewed according to the following procedure:

  1. Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent reviewers from research centres other than those where the author(s) of the paper is (are) affiliated.
  2. For manuscripts in languages other than Polish at least one reviewer is affiliated to a foreign institution in a country other than the country of the author.
  3. Authors of manuscripts and reviewers are anonymous to each other; reviewers have to make a statement about the lack of conflict of interest. A conflict of interest exists whenever an author and reviewer have a personal or professional relationship, or have directly cooperated in doing research within the last two years before the preparation of the review.
  4. The review is prepared in a written format and contains the explicit conclusions of the reviewer about accepting the manuscript for publication or its rejection.
  5. Criteria for acceptance or rejection of the manuscript and a peer-review form are made public on the journal website.
  6. Names of reviewers evaluating individual papers and journal issues are not disclosed; once a year the journal's editorial office publishes a list of cooperating reviewers without indicating the reviewed papers.
  7. Reviewers are sent an invitation for the evaluation of a manuscript. Reviews are prepared in an electronic format.
